Necia Shearin Dickens, 84, of Roanoke Rapids died Friday, October 22, 2010 at Johnston-Willis Hospital in Richmond.

Necia was born June 6, 1926, the daughter of the late Duke and Sadie Hamill Shearin. She was a graduate of Weldon High School and Louisburg College.

She is survived by her brother, Buddy Shearin and his wife, Virginia, of Richmond, VA, whom she loved very much; three nieces, Gloria Shearin Harris and her husband, David, Sandra Shearin Gizzi, all of Virginia Beach, VA, and Toni Shearin Cline and her husband, Mark, Sr., of Richmond; a host of great-nieces and nephews, several cousins, and her life-long friend, Ruth Parker, of Roanoke Rapids.

Askew Funeral & Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids is handling the arrangements, where funeral services will be held in the chapel on Monday, October 25, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Keith Tomlinson officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Interment will follow the service at Cedarwood Cemetery in Weldon.
